About WealthLyra

WealthLyra helps Canadians explore money decisions with free calculators for mortgages, savings, education, taxes and retirement. No signup or bank connection is required, and your financial inputs stay in your browser.

Our purpose is to make Canadian financial calculations easier to understand through clear assumptions, inspectable methods and links to official sources. Results are educational estimates and do not replace personalized financial, tax, legal, investment or mortgage advice.

Built for my own what-if questions

I’m a software developer with experience in personal investing and budgeting. WealthLyra started as a collection of calculators I built for my own financial planning in Canada. I could find tools for the basics, but not always for the specific scenarios I wanted to explore—or with enough control over the assumptions.

I wanted to get into the nerdy details: change contribution timing, compare account strategies, adjust fees and inflation, and see how those choices affect the result. So I built tools with the precise controls I wanted, then made them publicly available to help others explore similar questions.

The calculators explain their assumptions and link to the official sources used. I’m not a financial adviser; results are educational estimates. My experience with software and my own finances informs these tools, but it does not replace professional financial expertise.

Educational

Results are planning estimates. Your facts, provincial rules, and future changes can materially alter an outcome.

Local calculations

Calculator inputs are processed in your browser. No signup or bank connection is required. We don’t upload or save your financial inputs or send them to external APIs.

Reviewable rules

Each financial rule is dated, sourced to a public authority, and documented in the methodology.

Sources, checks and limitations

I maintain the tools using official Canadian sources, documented assumptions and calculation checks. The methodology records source checks, reference scenarios and review status. These checks are not a review by a certified financial planner. Independent review is marked as pending wherever it has not been completed.
