Frequently Asked Questions on Canadian Financial Modeling
Why do Canadian mortgage calculations differ from American tools?
Section 6 of the federal Interest Act requires a mortgage with blended principal-and-interest payments to state its rate calculated yearly or half-yearly, not in advance. Canadian lenders commonly quote fixed-rate mortgages with semi-annual compounding. WealthLyra models that common fixed-rate convention; always confirm the compounding method in your lender disclosure.
